One of the rarest artist archtop models to come out of Gibson in the 1960’s, here we have a 1963 Gibson Tal Farlow guitar in a beautiful Viceroy Brown finish. The Tal Farlow archtop is a beautifully ornate instrument that puts a spin on a few Gibson cosmetic features to make it a unique model such as the upside-down J-200 crown fretboard inlays, a mirror image double crown headstock inlay, a trapeze tailpiece with a wooden insert and Tal Farlow inlay, and a four-point pickguard cut to follow the body cutaway and accent the scroll inlay.
The guitar is in great shape for an instrument of its age. There is finish checking throughout the body with some dings and dents around the edges. The frets have a low profile and do not have any major wear to them which would lead to notes choking out. The original case has some wear to it, however all latches work and it protects the guitar as it should.
